The Indian Olympic Association’s ad-hoc committee for hockey is expected to shortlist a panel of 10 coaches — including six for the senior team — when it meets with former Olympians, current players and some technical experts at a meeting in New Delhi on Thursday.

The meeting — first in a series of four — was initially scheduled during the Junior Asia Cup at Hyderabad (July 8-11), but got postponed. The next meeting, expected in the last week of August, will seek opinions from state hockey associations.
Past and present personalities connected with the sport like M.M. Subbiah, P. Krishnamurthy, Gurubux Singh, Ashish Ballal, Md Shahid, Dhanraj Pillay, Aslam Sher Khan, Gurfan-e-Azam,
Prabhjot Singh, Devesh Chauhan, M.K. Kaushik and technical experts like Shakeel Qureshi have been invited to attend the meeting on Tursday.
“We have decided to shortlist a panel of 10 coaches, including four for the juniors, and also the names of the foreign experts, if required,” said ad-hoc committee convener Mohd Aslam Khan.
Khan also said that short-listing of venues for camps and training purposes for the 2010 World Cup and Commonwealth Games would also be discussed at the meeting.
