Nicole Kidman flaunted them with elan at this year’s Oscars, Beyonce Knowles sported them at a music awards night and soon Jennifer Lopez was also wearing them! And ever since chandelier earrings emerged as everyone’s favourite. Closer home, Rani Mukerjee and Kareena Kapoor have been showing them off too.

Actress Diana Hayden likes to pick up pearl chandeliers from China Town in New York. B4U Veejay Isshita Arun prefers her chandeliers “light and breezy,” while Pandit Jasraj’s daughter Durga feels they look cool when they are teamed with the right outfit. “I like long emerald drops that I picked up from Morocco,”says Durga.
“You don’t need accompaniments, just wearing them and it does the trick,” says Mumbai-based jewellery designer Queenie Dhody.
These sparklers that can be as long as five inches (starting from two inches onwards) are the latest must- have accessory that spices up your daily fashion palette.
Designer Rina Dhaka prefers traditional chandeliers. So she wears either kundan and polki with a pair of jeans and a simple blouse. “It makes your face look longer and leaner.
Wearing them is the easiest way to make a style statement,” feels Rina.
Former Miss India Neha Dhupia who is ready to star in her next film Julie likes Bvlgari chandelier offerings that are classic and can be worn with just about anything. “I’m a colour person, so for me coloured stones rock. I alternate these with rose cut diamond sometimes if the dress calls for it,” says Neha.
While the Capital does offer affordable versions (not everyone can afford a Bvlgari) available at places like Incense in Sarojini Nagar (which stocks costume jewellery bought from Bangkok and sold here) with or without dainty black stones. Carat Couture offers studded in almost any semi precious and precious stone from amethyst, tourmaline, garnets, rubiesfor Rs 12,000 upwards. “The largest selling piece today is the chandelier earring, it makes your dress look busy without going over the top. Choose from the Victorian, Mughal, art deco styles. The chandelier is mostly doing well with the younger crowd between 25-30 years,” says Manish.
