THE DISTRICT administration sealed a licensed firearms shop, Shiva Gun Agencies, at Jagatganj, under the Chetganj police station, here on Saturday.
The city magistrate said the action was initiated on the recommendations of the superintendent of police, Chandauli. City magistrate Sushil Srivastava and the circle officer (I) led the team that sealed the shop. Chandauli police had arrested three Bihar-based persons about a month and a half ago. They also recovered cartridges and firearms licences. These licences had been issued in Bihar. The accused were arrested during a vehicle-checking drive. Later, superintendent of police, Chandauli, RK Chaturvedi sent a team to Bihar to find out whether the licences were authentic.
Investigation revealed that the firearms shopowner had sold bullets to some Bihar-based persons after the latter produced fake licences. Several other irregularities were also detected during investigation.
The name of the owner of Shiv Gun Agency surfaced when the three arrested persons were interrogated. Later, the shopowner was held.
