The 'Car-ma Sutra' is the creation of 41-year old cartoonist and artist Adam Long, whose alter ego is Dr A S Longalinga – a professor of oriental eroticism.
Long revealed that the idea for the car-sex guide had struck him during a drawing spell with Girlfriend magazine.
"I used to draw a cartoon for Girlfriend in the early '90s called Awkward Moments, about all those awkward, fumbling moments you have as a teenager. A girl had written in to a column called 'How Embarrassing' about getting her foot stuck in a glove box and I did a cartoon of someone studying a book called the Car-ma Sutra," the Sydney Morning Herald quoted him, as saying.
"I thought there should be such a book - I wrote it a few years ago, it was linked with a few publishers, but it couldn’t get it published until I met my current publisher," he added.
And Long claims that the book, which features positions such as the "Backseat Monsoon," has already proved to be a traffic-stopper in Sydney where the launch was stopped by police during an in-car demonstration.
He is now planning to set the world record for having sex in the car.
"We're planning something for a drive-in in Dandenong - it holds 850 cars and we're hoping to stage a world-record attempt in-car love-in," he said.
