The programme, on All India Radio, will start at 11 am.

The PM has timed the radio programme on Vijaya Dashmi—the day when the good wins over evil, according to Hindu mythology. It also comes a day after he formally launches the ambitious sanitation programme Swachch Bharat Abhiyan.

While the PM’s first TV interview was aimed at the global audience ahead of his US visit, the radio programme is expected to reach out primarily to the rural population.

In a bid to make it a success, media managers have created a separate Open Forum on MyGov.in for people to post comments and share ideas.

“The Prime Minister would refer to the Open Forum before the programme and may even refer to some of the points made on the Forum,” said the release.

Observers see the radio programme as PMO opening up of yet another channel of communication with the people.
