According to sources, Advocate General Bhatia would arrive here on Monday and hold a meeting with the officials concerned over the issue. He would also visit the Magh Mela area and take stock of the situation there.

Sources said Bhatia had decided to appear in this case, as the State Government had taken a serious note of the reported pollution in the Ganga.
To recall, a Division Bench of this court, while hearing a PIL filed by Hari Chetanji Mahraj on January 27, had fixed January 31 as the next date of hearing of the PIL relating to Ganga pollution.

BAR ASSN POLL:

Deadlock over the election of the Allahabad District Court Bar Association came to an end when the arbitrators delivered the award confirming the election of the president, secretary, treasurer, auditor and librarian.

However, the arbitrators cancelled the election of vice-presidents, joint secretary and executive members and said there would be re-election for these posts.

Immediately after this announcement, the outgoing president and secretary handed over the charge of office to the newly elected president and secretary - Vinod Chandra Dubey and Shitla Prasad Mishra.

The other elected office-bearers also took charge of their offices. The arbitrators who adjudicated this issue included lawyers Syed Rahman Ali, Gajadhar Prasad Mishra and Vijendra Kumar Pandey.
