AIADMK Pondicherry chief said he would send a complaint to the EC, requesting action against ruling Congress party functionaries for allegedly violating the code of conduct at rallies.
AIADMK Pondicherry unit secretary A Anbalagan, on Thursday said he would send a detailed complaint to the Election Commission, requesting that action be taken against ruling Congress party functionaries for allegedly violating the code of conduct at rallies and meetings.
Speaking to reporters here, he alleged that Chief Minister N Rangaswamy and agriculture minister A Namassivayam were among those who took part in processions during the visit of TNCC president, GK Vasan here on May 4. Not less than 150 four wheelers and trucks were used by the party to transport workers to the venue of the meeting, he said.
He said that there were also incidents of intimidation in some coastal villages in Karaikal.
Anbalagan alleged that Congress and DMK workers were obstructing volunteers of other parties from campaigning in the villages. This might lead to booth rigging by anti-social elements, he said and demanded that election authorities immediately take action.
Anbalagan also reiterated his demand for replacing the Chief Electoral Officer, M Sathiavathy, who, according to him, was not impartial in the discharge of her duties.
