Air service: Mayor writes to minister
MAYOR CHAUDHARI Jitendra Nath Singh has demanded the Union Civil Aviation Minister to start air service from Allahabad during Ardh Kumbh fair scheduled to be held here from January 3 next year.In a letter written to the Union Minister, the Mayor said that the city being the important historical, religious and cultural centre of the country it deserves to be provided with air connectivity especially at the time of Ardh Kumbh -2007. Several lakh persons from across the world visit the city but having no air service they face various hardships.

Therefore, the mayor urged the minister to launch the air service from January 1, 2007 till February end considering the feeling of citizens.
It may be mentioned that during Mahakumbh 2001, the then National Democratic Alliance Government had provided the air service that proved to be quite beneficial especially for the foreign tourists.
