AIRTEL TODAY said hat it has connected over 200 towns and 1,200 villages on its state-of-the-art network in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
Addressing reporters here today through video-conferencing, Airtel Company director Sunil Bharti Mittal said that it has been Airtel’s endeavour to bring mobile telephony to the common man’s reach. “We at Airtel take immense pride for having played major role in spearheading the market expansion in both states.’’
While addressing the conference at all five zones of Bhopal, Jabalpur, Gwalior, Raipur and Indore, the Airtel chief operating officer (COO), Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh circle, Sunil K Goyal informed that operating at a vigorous pace the company had added one new town on an average every second day and installed a base station every day.
The company would also install 80 towers to overcome indoor network problem soon. Airtel had added over 455 cell sites and added 171 new towns and location this financial year.
He also said that Airtel had invested over Rs 350 crore in the two states and planned to invest additional Rs 450 crore more by the end of February 2007.
Airtel had also introduced the offers for all its customers to celebrate its network leadership during this week. The tariff rates of STD calling would be Rs 1.25 per minute for its new and existing customers. A free night pack of Rs 51 would also be given to new post-paid customers through which the SMS services would be charged at 1 paise per message from 10 pm to 8 am for 30 days of activation.
A double validity offer would also be given to new prepaid customers with validity of 60 days on recharge voucher of Rs 330 and Rs 390. Under this offer, full talk-time would be given in top-up voucher of Rs 110 and Rs 219 to the existing prepaid customers.
‘‘Airtel has also launched its network information services in which the customer could know about the network in the particular city by typing the town followed by the first letter of the city and could send it to the toll free number 456.
The company has also done 208 direct and overall roaming agreements and also provide two way roaming facilities to its customers,’’ added Goyal.
Airtel had also connected tourist destinations, major highways and industrial regions of both the states with its network services. It covers over 60 towns and locations in and around Indore and the highest amongst all private mobile operators in the State.
The company would also install eighty towers to overcome indoor network problem soon.
