AISA national council meeting from June 10

A TWO-DAY meeting of the All-India Students? Association (AISA) national council will be held in Allahabad on June 10 and 11. The AISA activists from different universities of the country would participate in the national conference.

Reduction in seats in different universities would be the meeting’s main agenda.

AISA’s Allahabad University (AU) unit president Prem Shankar Singh gave this information through a Press release. The national council members would discuss several issues raised by students through agitation and specially reduction in seats of universities and AU. The members would workout a plan for agitation against different issues in the meeting including the right for employment.

AISA national president Kavita Krishnan, national general secretary Sunil Yadav and JNU students’ union president Mona Das would take part in the meeting. The Pratiyogi Chatra Morcha (PCM) staged a demonstration and gheraoed special secretary (finance). They gave a memorandum to the special secretary (finance) in support of their demands at the circuit house here on Friday. The students demanded the dissolution of the SSC of at least 10 per cent students in the PCS (preliminary) examination.

Those present on the occasion were AU students’ union general secretary Suresh Yadav, Vijay Dwivedi, Dhananjay Singh, Sunil Dwivedi, Sushil Gaekwad, Rashid Sidiqi, Ishu Sonkar, Om Prakash Dwivedi, Vivek Mishra and Shailesh Singh.

The PCM leaders said a meeting and demonstration would be held at the district headquarters on Saturday.
