Pilgrimage to the Amarnath shrine in Poonch district resumed on Saturday morning after remaining suspended for a day due to landslides.

The landslides, which blocked the Jammu-Poonch Highway due to heavy rains at Chokichora area in Rajouri, were cleared and the stranded 567 pilgrims left for the shrine, official sources said.

Meanwhile, a fresh batch of 503 pilgrims left on Saturday for the cave shrine of Amarnath despite bad weather.

Saturday's batch, comprising 264 men, 49 women, two children and 188 sadhus, have left in a fleet of 16 vehicles from the base camp of MAM stadium early Saturday morning, they said.
