The boy, the only son of a farmer couple, Dharavath Ravi and Maibu, fell into the uncovered borewell at their farm about 210 km north east of Hyderabad.

The boy plunged into a depth of 30 feet and was lodged there. Three teams were rushed in from Singereni collieries mines nearby after TV channels flashed the news of the boy falling into the well. Medical teams also arrived at the spot. A camera which was lowered into the bore well on Sunday night showed the boy was alive.

When rescue workers reached the boy, they rushed him to a nearby hospital, but doctors pronounced him brought dead. District collector N. Sridhar later said that the administration will take measures to get all abandoned wells closed.
