All seven inmates are below 18 years of age at the Durga Bal Anathalya, an unregistered child care centre.

Kaithal deputy commissioner Chander Shekhar, who has ordered an inquiry as to how the centre was being run illegally, said the children would be shifted to the Brahm Shakti Ashram in Tatiana village of Guhla sub-division.

“Directions have been issued to the officials concerned to inspect all child care centres being run in an unauthorised manner in the district and the facilities provided by them,” the DC said.

He said similar directions had also been issued to inspect all unregistered child care centres in Kaithal district.

Meanwhile, Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has vowed to take strict action against those involved in the sexual abuse and torture of
inmates at a shelter home in Haryana, saying the culprits won’t be spared.

“An SIT has been constituted. Those involved will not be spared,” he said after a meeting with home minister P Chidambaram.

Hooda was answering questions on the action taken against those involved in the alleged sexual abuse and torture of inmates at the ‘Apna Ghar’ shelter home in Rohtak. “The law will take its own course,” he added.
