Argentina and New Zealand both collected six points. But the Latin Americans finished fourth above the Black Sticks on a better goal difference.

Argentina's Lucas Vila (29th min) struck through a penalty corner to open up a 1-0 lead at half time.

Matias Paredes (43rd min) and Mario Almada (56th) netted field goals in the second session as the world number 14 side seemed to be cruising with a 3-0 lead.

However, the complexion of the game changed late in the second half as Canada got double strikes at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium. Scott Tuper (60th) converted a penalty corner before David Jameson (65th) scored a field goal as the Canadians seemed in full flow.

But the waves of Canadians attacks failed to change the script as Tomas Argento (70th) scored in the last minute to make the final scoreline 4-2.

Canada finished Pool A on three points and would play four time winners Pakistan for the 11-12th place play-off Thursday.

New Zealand clash with South Africa Friday in the classification battle for the ninth-tenth positions.
