An army jawan was killed and another injured as militants attacked a security patrol in Kupwara district of North Kashmir, a police spokesman said on Monday.

An army jawan was killed and another injured as militants attacked a security patrol in Kupwara district of North Kashmir, a police spokesman said on Monday.
An ambush party of 21 Rashtriya Rifles was attacked by militants at Rajpora-Zachaldara, 95 kms from Srinagar, on Sunday causing injuries to two soldiers, the spokesman said.
He said the injured jawans were rushed to military hospital, Drugmullah, where one of them identified as Lance Naik Guru Raj succumbed to his injuries.
The militants fled from the scene taking advantage of thick forest cover, the spokesman said, adding a search operation was on to nab them.
