Two people, including an Indian Army soldier, have been arrested in Gujarat's Kutch district for allegedly spying for Pakistan, police on Thursday said
According to police sources here, the soldier, Ibrahim of the Military Engineering Service (MES), was under surveillance for some time after suspicion that he was procuring classified defence documents and passing these on to his Pakistani contacts through his brother-in-law, Osman Abdullah.
Both were arrested from Bhuj, the district headquarter of Kutch, Wednesday night and were brought before a Bhuj court Thursday. The court remanded them to nine days' police custody for further questioning. The two were being brought to Ahmedabad where they would be grilled jointly by police and the army authorities.
The police suspect that Ibrahim has been active as a Pakistani spy for some time. The two are being questioned to ascertain the extent of damage caused to national security through leakage of documents.
