The ASP was presented in the anti-corruption court here in an unconscious state.
Talking to HT, Madhusudan Tripathi said the ASP was a patient of chronic backbone pain and used belt for relief. However, the cops did not provide him the belt, which caused unbearable pain to Krishna. Another accused Aslam Ansari was also referred to hospital due to illness.
Meanwhile, all eight accused arrested in Azamgarh for their involvement in the recruitment scam, including ASP Rajesh Krishna, were sent to jail by in-charge of anti-corruption court VK Nigam on Tuesday. They were presented in the court here as the district headquarters of the anti-corruption court is based in Gorakhpur.
Those sent to jail included ASP Rajesh Krishna, sub-inspector RN Chaudhary, Pawan Kumar and PAC jawans Rajendra Prasad Bharti, Kamlesh Chaudhary, Amit Verma and bank employee Mohd Shakeel and Younus who gave bribe for recruitment of their candidates.
It is to be noted that the police had raided the PAC camp and a hotel in Azamgarh on Sunday night and busted a gang allegedly involved in PAC recruitment scam.
Police also recovered a total of Rs 11.22 lakh from the possession of the ASP and middleman Shakeel. In light of the scam, DGP Bua Singh had cancelled the recruitment. Around 308 PAC jawans were being recruited at 10 centres all over the State. Recruitment at five centres had been completed.
Police had registered a case under section 419 and 420 of IPC against the accused.
