Aspirants for election tickets make beeline at AAP office

Ever since the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP made a spectacular debut with 28 seats in the Delhi Assembly elections, the party has received tremendous response from varied people across India. While most are eager to join AAP as members, the number of ticket aspirants is no less.

“Saab, I have come from Haryana. I want to be an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) member. I have support of 2,000 people. Give me an election ticket,” a burly man told an AAP volunteer.

“Beta, I am here to join you. I have been in the social service for five decades. You must give me a ticket,” said an elderly man flanked by a bunch of people from his area crowding the AAP office on Hanuman Road.

The people approaching AAP are apparently buoyed by the fact that common people were given tickets and won under the party’s banner.

“It has sort of increased our headache. The people do not want to know what the party ideology is, what its fundamentals are. They think can get ticket just like that,” said an office bearer.
