Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was scheduled to hold a poll rally in the district headquarters of Diphu today but it was cancelled yesterday due to some unspecified reasons.

Nobody was injured in the blast, official sources said.

Karbi Longri National Liberation Front (KLNLF) militants triggered an improvised explosive device (IED) near a BSF camp when the paramilitary troops were out on patrolling, sources said.

Senior police officials rushed to the spot and security has been tightened in the area, sources added.

The KLNLF has called a 36-hour bandh in Karbi Anglong and North Cachar Hills districts of Assam from 3 pm today protesting the killing of its cadres by security forces and also issued "shoot-at-sight" orders for those defying the bandh call.
