This was decided at a meeting held at the union hall on Monday. Student leader Pravesh Singh Yadav presided over the meeting.

Yadav said Union Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh, on his visit, to the Allahabad University assured students to maintain the reservation status of Other Backward Caste candidates.

Reservation for OBCs was not applicable after the AU attained the status of a Central university.

Yadav said the demand would also be put forth to the Allahabad University executive council for consideration.

If the varsity authorities failed to meet their demands, students would stage protests, he said.

Those present at the meeting were Sachindra Yadav, Anurag Patel, Harish Chandra Patel, Santosh Yadav, Munna Yadav and Sant Lal Verma among others.
