According to a report, the chief secretary has issued a circular to all district magistrate in this regard and has directed them to monitor the mid-day-meal scheme in schools. He also instructed them to keep a close watch on the misused of funds and allotment of food grains by non-government organisations at village and ward level.
Sources said that the audit committee would cross check the registers and the supply of grains to various agencies for mid-day meal from July to November 2006.
Separate audit teams will be constituted under chairmanship of district inspector of schools (DIOS) Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA), district supply officer (DSO), district panchayatraj adhikari, accountant of BSA office, while ABSA supply inspector, ADO and panchayat members will be the members of the committee.
The audit team will conduct a survey in the schools in urban areas from December 1 to 15, while four other teams have been deployed in the rural areas. During the survey and spot inspection, the team may go through the records available at gross panchayat level.
These teams would submit their report to district magistrate and stringent action would be taken against the officials for dereliction in the duty. District magistrate would submit their report to chief secretary by December 26 and the same copy of the report will be dispatched to director mid-day-meal scheme.
