Preliminary interrogation of Avtar Singh, one of the two alleged close aides of Babbar Khalsa International India chief Paramjeet Singh Bheora has revealed that he was an old friend of Bheora and was committed to the cause of extremist movement since 1984 anti-Sikh riots.

Native of Delhi, like Bheora, Avtar managed to evade arrest before despite allegedly operating as a conduit between Bheora and his family after the former went underground following 1984 riots and his family shifted base to Bheora village in Ropar, police officials said.
Not only Avtar remained well aware about the activities and movements of Bheora and other hardcore ultras but he kept providing him shelter and storing the contraband and other consignments that Bheora used to receive from his mentor Wadhawa Singh Babbar from Pakistan, disclosed senior officials involved in the custodial interrogation of arrested Babbars.
They said that Avtar, who remained in Delhi even long after 1984 before shifting to Kurali was even a source to exchange information and money between Bheora, his brother and family.
