Bajrang Dal burns Bukhari effigy

BAJRANG DAL activists took out a procession and burnt an effigy of Jama Masjid Shahi Imam MaulanaAhmad Bukhari at the court crossing here in protest against his reported remark that recital of Vande Matram was against the spirit of Islam.

They said opposition to the song was against the Indian culture. They shouted slogans against Imam Bukhari and Congress leaders.

City unit president of BJP Raviprakash Srivastav condemned the remarks of member of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board Zafaryaab Jilani that Vande Mataram recitation was against the Islamic law and Shariat and Muslims should not be bound to recite it.

Party leaders Dhruv Narain, Harish Chand Nishad and district president Harish Chand Pandey said recitation of the song had enthused the freedom fighters during freedom struggle and opposition to the song would incite separatist forces. They demanded the arrest of Imam Bukhari and Jilani. State BJP president Keshari Nath Tripathi has also said that the forces opposing Vande Matram has no moral rights to live on Indian soil.
