Vehicles were off the road and shops and business establishments down their shutters due to the separate bandh calls by SDF, and Congress and regional party SHRPP.
While the SDF has called for 12-hour bandh to protest the burning of the effigy of the Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling by Shiv Sena activists, the Congress and the SHRPP have given a bandh call today to protest against the alleged "misrule" of the SDF government.
The Sainiks had burnt the effigy at Siliguri on September 11 charging him with "dual nationality".
