A day after BCCI sacked Kapil for aligning with the rebel Indian Cricket League, Sidhu came down heavily on the board, questioning its authority.

"I strongly condemn the expulsion of Kapil Dev. I don't see BCCI having the right to expel somebody like Kapil Dev," an irate Sidhu told a private TV channel.

"They are just a private body and anybody like them can form a group of people and promote Indian cricket. Who gave them the right to expel Kapil?" said the cricketer-turned-commentator, who is also a Parliamentarian.

Kapil, who was appointed NCA Chairman last year, heads the Executive Board of the rebel league and was sacked a month before his term could come to an end in September.
