"Our duty is to protect citizens and act as a bridge to deliver justice to one and all during which certain situations may require the supreme sacrifice," he said.
"Terrorism has become a universal phenomenon; the twin blasts at Dimapur on October 2 last year proves that Nagaland is no exception to terrorism. As the police, we are expected to be aware of such incidents occurring the world over so that we can plan and prepare to counter this," he said.
Nagaland has been victim to a number of terrorist attacks over the years, with most militant outfits operating in the state having ready access to sophisticated arms and ammunition from across the border. Scores of police officials and other security men have been killed in anti-militancy operations in over 40 years in the state.
