It is an age that most are envious of. No telltale crow feet, dryness, laughter lines etcetera. Who wouldn't want to turn the clock back to when one was 20 something? And if you are lucky enough to be in your 20s it is time to get into the action right away.
For now is the time to begin a skin care routine. Take care of your skin and its little problems now, to avoid having to undergo cosmetic changes a decade down the road.
Good diet: Eat healthy. Include foods like bean sprouts, apples, carrots, tomatoes and green leafy vegetables in your diet.
A regular intake of healthy foods like dals, grains, nuts and seeds builds collagen and helps retain elasticity of the skin. Limit caffeine intake as coffee is a diuretic. Drink 8-10 glasses of water everyday to maintain the elasticity of the skin. Acne anxiety: If you've had acne as a teen, chances are they will not leave cease to bother as yet.
The only difference is that they are shifting from teenage acne to the adult variety, breaking out on your chin, forehead and even jawline. Though it is difficult to stop acne immediately, restrict them by keeping your face clean. Wash your face twice a day with a gentle facewash. Do not wash vigorously or use a face scrub.
Try and wash your face everytime you come in from the outdoors to remove all the dust and g rime. If washing is a problem use wet tissues. Dab a little milk of magnesia on the problem area and leave it on overnight. Never squeeze or pick at acne. This will not only leave unsightly marks but will also worsen the condi tion when the acne spreads.
Sun damage: The sun damages your skin the most when you are in your 20s, and are exposed to the sun for long. The sunrays not only causes pigmentation but the UV rays also cause premature skin aging, skin cancer, and a host of skin changes. To avoid sun damage keep your skin covered as much as possible. Car ry an umbrella whenever possible and always use a sunscreen with an SPF not lower than 30.
Also use a moisturiser that contains sunscreen and wear sunglasses to avoid lines and wrinkles near the eyes. Cleansing routine: A few minutes of daily care will go a long way. Follow the cleaning-moisturisingtoning routine each day. Dip a ball of cotton in preboiled milk raw and clean your face. Let it dry and wash it with lukewar m water. Follow it up with a good toner to tighten the pores. Finish off with a moisturiser or a night cream.
Makeup: Limit the use of makeup as it could lead to clogging of the pores. And even if you do, make sure to remove all traces of makeup before you sleep. You could clean your face with natural products like fruits, coconut milk, besan or ground dal to let your skin breathe.
Change your bad habits: Get proper sleep and avoid getting stressed out. Lack of sleep leads to puffy eyes and dark circles under eyes. Also avoid smoking as it breaks down the collagen and the elastin and decreases the blood supply to the skin. Also excessive smoking creates deep lines in the lips and the lipstick bleeds down into these lines.
