Bengaluru: Police say no to 'Kiss of Love'

Making it clear Bengaluru won't see a Kiss of Love rally soon, city police commissioner MN Reddi said on Tuesday the drive violated section 294 of the IPC that deals with obscenity in public.

Making it clear Bengaluru won't see a Kiss of Love rally soon, city police commissioner MN Reddi said on Tuesday the drive violated section 294 of the IPC that deals with obscenity in public.

Addressing a press conference, Reddi said, "We have decided to deny permission to the organisers of Kiss of Love on the basis of the opinion given to us by the law department." The event organisers had sought permission to hold the demonstration on November 30.

Reddi also said that the organisers had no clarity about why they wanted to hold the demonstration. "In Kerala, moral policing is rampant. So, they held Kiss of Love. Rachita Taneja, the Bengaluru organiser, could not explain why they wanted to hold it here," he said, adding, "She also refused to take any responsibility for the event."
