Renée Zellweger

Cold Mountain

Renee Zellweger became a household name in 1996 with the movie Jerry Maguire where she starred opposite Tom Cruise. From an ambitious journalist (who temporarily shelves her career to care for her mother) in "One True Thing" (1998) to a rebellious Hassidic Jew in Boaz Yakin's "A Price Above Rubies" (1998), this Texan has done all kinds of roles in a decade long career. In 2000, Zellweger was honoured with a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Comedy for her comedic turn in Nurse Betty, starring with Morgan Freeman and Chris Rock. In "Cold Mountain", she plays a hardened country girl who teaches sheltered Southern belle how to survive during the Civil War.
