Bhupathi-Mirnyi in US Open doubles third round

Defending champions Mahesh Bhupathi and Max Mirnyi registered a come-from-behind win to move into the third round of the men's doubles event in the US Open tennis championships here.

The top-seeded Indo-Belarusian pair lost the first set before stamping its authority to win the match 6-7 (7-9) 7-6 (7-4) 6-3 against Anthony Dupuis of France and Lee Hung-taik of South Korea on Saturday night.

Bhupathi and Mirnyi had defeated Slovakian Dominik Hrbaty and Andre Sa of Brazil in their first round match on Wednesday.

The Indian, partnering Paola Suarex of Argentina, has also moved into the second round of the mixed doubles event in the championship.

The Indo-Argentine pair overcame a spirited display from Petra Mandula of Hungary and Graydon Oliver of the United States in a round one match on Friday.
