BJP's Kerala unit said on Wednesday that it was due to the selfless work of various social and voluntary service organisations that help could be provided to the tsunami affected people in the state.

Addressing a press conference in Kochi, AN Radhakrishnan, state secretary of BJP, said except for the visit of the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, the Centre had taken a "non-cooperative" attitude to the tragedy.
"By merely shifting the Alappuzha district collector, the government cannot escape from its mistakes," he said.
Demanding that the rehabilitation work should be speeded up in the affected areas, he said that the government should provide sufficient funds to the departments concerned, to distribute assistance to people who had lost their equipment.
The shortcomings in the rationing system should be rectified.
Government should implement housing projects suitable to coastal areas, he said.
