The incident was a pointer to the "deteriorating" law and order situation in the state, BJP's state unit Spokesman Techi Necha said in a statemtn here.

Expressing concern over the law and order situation in Tirap, Changlang and Londging districts, the party said the government must be pro-active in strengthening internal security.

The party, however, lauded the the prompt intervention of the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Tirap district in rescuing Lowangcha who had been detained for three hours on Saturday.

Although the party claimed that its leader had been detained by suspected militants, the SP said no ultra was involved in the incident.
