They alleged that people were being killed, looted in daylight and criminals were ruling the roost while the cops appeared to have taken a back seat. “Cops refrain from challenging anti social elements and the common man is feeling unsafe,” they said. The leaders urged the IG to end the jungle raj in the district so that the citizens may feel safe. They also urged the IG to get students of a girl’s school in Meerapur protected from anti social elements. The leaders also urged the IG to get cases of atrocities on dalits checked.
Series of meetings planned
In view of upcoming local bodies and Vidhan Sabha elections, the BJP has planned a series of meetings and other programmes in the city. On the occasion of birth anniversary of Pt Deen Dayal Upadhaya party leaders and activists will garland the statue of the late leader in the morning at 8.30 am.
From September 24 onwards, they will take out padyatras in all the three Vidhan Sabha areas on issues of the importance and relevance of Vande Matram and make people aware of the same.
Meanwhile, addressing a meeting of party workers BJP MLAs from city (North) Narendra Singh Gaur expressed concern over what he termed as jungle raj prevailing in the district under the present government. He said, his party has geared up to come to the aid of the public to resolve to throw out the present government in the state.
He also called upon party workers to abide by the party directives and carry out the scheduled programmes.
Prominent among those who attended the meeting included Navratna Katyal,Kunj Behari Misra, Vijay Tewari, Ram Prakash Singh, Awdhesh Misra, Hamida Bano, Prem Narain Kesarwani, Vasudeo Misra, Anamika Chaudhary, Shailendra Misra and others.
