The first day is devoted to closed-door national executive deliberations and during the next two days the party's national council will meet at the Ramlila Ground in an open session.

The meeting assumes importance as the BJP is expected to draft a strategy to effectively project LK Advani as the party's prime ministerial candidate for the next general elections.

The party's top leadership meeting is being held for the first time without former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

During its national council meeting, the BJP would be amending its constitution that will enable it to reserve 33 percent of its nominations for women in elections to state assemblies and Parliament.
