With elections round the corner, not a single meeting, either of the city or rural BJP had been held. Although the exact picture of elections would come out only after the announcement of candidates’ names, Congress seems to be steps ahead of the BJP in the pre poll preparations.

Even Central leadership failed to rejuvenate the BJP in the district as Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Health and Family Welfare Sushma Swaraj was given a cold shoulder on her visit to Ajmer at the Ajmer Railway Station. At the time of her arrival, almost all BJP leaders and party workers turned up to show their to score points over others but their absence was conspicuous at her departure.

While addressing the party workers on Sunday night, she appealed to them to work hard for the cause of the party. She said the workers that ‘power’ in the State is only a step away and that is the reason, why almost every worker wants to be member of the winning team. It seemed as if Swaraj was trying to pacify the party workers.

Earlier on her arrival, the top BJP party leader of the district admitted that BJP is far away from its rival party at the grassroots. Swaraj said at least one-woman candidate from each district would be fielded in the forthcoming elections.

The visit of Union minister for Civil Aviation Rajiv Pratap Rudy was altogether a different affair. On his personal visit to Ajmer, he kept his Ajmer visit as a secret to avoid the crowd of party workers who are vying for the tickets for the assembly elections.

The biggest setback would be the bickering in the BJP, which has surfaced of late at various levels in the party. Though its leaders are claiming that the party is united have sank their differences but at the same time a few party leaders are trying to obtain tickets against their own sitting MLAs of Pushkar and Bhinai.
