BJP wins Kapkot by-election

BJP candidate Sher Singh Garhia on Monday won the Kapkot assembly by-election by defeating Chamu Singh Ghasiyal of Congress by a margin of 7,167 votes.

BJP candidate Sher Singh Garhia on Monday won the Kapkot assembly by-election by defeating Chamu Singh Ghasiyal of Congress by a margin of 7,167 votes.

The by-poll to the seat was held on May 28.

Winning the Kapkot by-poll was crucial for the BJP which was drubbed in all the five Lok Sabha seats in the hill state in the just-concluded Lok Sabha polls.

About 50 to 55 per cent voters exercised their franchise for Kapkot seat in Uttarakhand.
