The AC was installed at the house of an intelligence bureau official in Sanjay Nagar area of the Ghaziabad, on Thursday evening, the police said.

Kapil Kumar (23) was killed when he was trying to repair the AC unit's compressor. Kumar was called to the house of inspector Bhavnesh Chikara to repair a leak in the unit, the police said.

"Two persons had gone to repair a leakage reported in the compressor of the AC unit, when it burst. As an impact, the LPG cylinder in the house also caught fire," circle officer Praveen Ranjan Singh said.

Although Kumar was rushed to a nearby hospital, he succumbed to his burn injuries late on Thursday night.

His colleague, Lokesh Kumar, too, suffered injuries over his face, chest and hands. Lokesh was reported to be in a critical state at the hospital.

The police said the two worked with a private company in Raj Nagar.
