The outfit apologised to all those killed and abducted by the cadres during the eight-year-long militancy, the press statement, signed by Solomon Prophul Ushoy, general secretary of the BNLF said.
"We also apologised to the people of Mizoram for false and baseless allegations by some Brus that Mizos torched temples, raped numerous Bru girls and forcibly converted Brus into Christians," the statement said.
The BNLF leaders led by its president Surjyamoni Reang visited the offices of the Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP) or Mizo Students' Federation and Central Young Mizo Association (YMA) to seek their cooperation in bringing lasting peace to the state following the agreement.
Central YMA leaders informed the BNLF leadership that the Mizo people accepted the bonafide Mizoram Brus with open arms and expressed the hope that they would continue to be law-abiding citizens of the state once they are repatriated from neighbouring Tripura.
YMA asked the BNLF leaders and the Bru comunity to ensure that all the provisions of the agreement signed with the state government are implemented.
