Bodh Gaya terror attack: Uphold teachings of ahimsa Lord Buddha

Distressed over the terror attack on Mahabodhi temple complex in Bodh Gaya, Bihar, Tibetan spiritual leader, the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorje, expressed sadness over the violence in the temple and said the best response to the attacks was to uphold the teachings of Lord Buddha on love and non-violence.

Distressed over the terror attack on Mahabodhi temple complex in Bodh Gaya, Bihar, Tibetan spiritual leader, the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorje, expressed sadness over the violence in the temple and said the best response to the attacks was to uphold the teachings of Lord Buddha on love and non-violence.

Nine serial blasts rocked the Mahabodhi temple and other places of worship in the town, including Tergar Monastery, residence of the Karmpapa in Bodh Gaya. Two monks were injured in the blasts, while property was damaged in Mahabodhi temple complex and Tergar Monastery.

“I was deeply saddened to hear the “senseless violence” perpetrated at the Mahabodhi temple and its environs in Bodhgaya,” the Tibetan spiritual leader said in a statement issued from temporary home at Gyuto Monastery, Sidhbhari, near Dharamshala.

“This is the place where Buddhist pilgrims from India and the world over pay homage to Lord Buddha and his teachings,” he added.
