Hemant was allegedly murdered by his younger brother inside the official residence allotted to his father inside the Ghanta-Ghar police station last Monday.
“Hemant’s body bore several deep cuts on the head, forehead and back. The wounds were deep enough to have caused his death. His father A.P. Singh identified the body,” SP (City) Rahul Yaduvendu, said.
“We have sent the body for post-mortem,” SP added.
That 17-year-old Sandeep, Hemant’s younger brother, had killed him came to light when he admitted to having committed the crime during interrogations. Sandeep revealed that he killed Hemant because their father loved him more.
Sandeep also revealed that he had taken his 14-year-old stepbrother’s help to dispose of the body in the Hindon Canal. They had used their father’s Maruti 800 for this purpose.
Hemant’s personal belongings were recovered from near the locations given by Sandeep during the interrogation.
Both Sandeep and his younger stepbrother have been arrested and booked under sections 302 (murder) and 201 (destruction of evidence) of the IPC and have been sent to a Juvenile Court in Meerut.
