Bollywood 'vulgarity' irks Pakistan director

Pakistani film director Syed Noor has criticised "vulgarity" in Indian films.

Saying a movie's purpose was to convey a social message and to attract viewers through emotional scenes and songs, Noor says the situation in Bollywood is otherwise.

Noor says he is trying to follow in the footsteps of prominent directors of the past, adding that he had learnt a lot from Muhammad Javed Fazil and S Suleman. He criticised filmmakers promoting vulgarity. "These filmmakers and directors have forgotten the traditions of their predecessors," he observes.

The Pakistani director added that he made films that could be watched by entire families.
