Bomb scare delays trains on Mumbai-Howrah route

A bomb scare on Wednesday delayed trains on up and down lines between Naxals infested Salekasa-Dhanoli stations, police said.

However, a thorough search of the stretch confirmed that some firecrackers lying along the railway tracks were mistaken as bombs, they said.

A gangman during a routine patrol spotted three fire crackers, locally known as "sutli bombs", near the tracks and informed about it to Salekasa station master who mistook the message as "bombs were kept near tracks", and alerted police, they said.

The scare halted the train traffic for three hours on the route, they said.
