Under the initiative, the two companies would be offering a PC bundled with a broadband connection to rural customers for an upfront payment of Rs 2,250 followed by a monthly payment of Rs 300 for the PC and Rs 99 for the broadband.

“This is indeed the one of the major initiatives to bridge the digital divide by offering PC plus broadband at a subsidised rates to our customers,” said Kuldeep Goyal, CMD, BSNL. “The missing pie in proliferation was the affordability and service which are now being provided jointly by us and HCL, with support from the Universal Services Obligation Fund to increase desirability.”
