Talking to media in Muzaffarnagar on Wednesday night, Hashmi alleged that the BSP has several party members with criminal background.

"The ongoing clean up drive is a drama. Those with criminal background are not being expelled from the party (BSP)...," he said.

The BSP-led Uttar Pradesh government has failed to impose central schemes and its advantages have not reached to beneficiaries in the state, Hashmi added.

UPCC president Rita Bahuguna Joshi had recently mocked at the 'clean up operation' launched by BSP supremo Mayawati.
