Most of these buildings are rented accommodations and caught in legal wrangle between district basic education authorities and their owners. As a result of this, the buildings had not been repaired for a long time.

Juhi Khurd A and B, Gaushala, Colonelganj Junior, Colonelganj primary schools, six schools running on the roof of the Bhagat Singh Market and the ones at Bajaria and Naughara are tragedies waiting to happen.

Instead of making any efforts to search for proper alternatives, the senior officials in the primary education department pass the buck on to their subordinates.

In fact, teachers have been asked to use their judgement before conducting classes in these schools, sources informed.

President of the Primary Teachers’ Sangh Muzaffar Hussain criticised the attitude of district education officials and said that in case of any accident teachers should not be held responsible.

Sources informed that one of the primary schools in the Talq Mohal locality was in real bad shape. This morning, incidents of plaster peeling off its porch were reported. However, no one suffered injuries as the incident took place prior to the start of the school.
