Bus chaos at Gurgaon's Iffco Chowk

The special drive by the police department to decongest Iffco Chowk seems to have hit a roadblock. As Haryana Roadways buses do not halt at the designated stops, passengers are forced to get down in the middle of a service lane which leads to chaos at the busy intersection.

The Gurgaon traffic police department has also written to Haryana Roadways to initiate action and sort out the issue.

"We have written to the general manager of Haryana Roadways (Gurgaon) to draw his attention towards the traffic chaos caused by the buses. There is a proper bus stand and shelters at the flyover under Iffco Chowk, but drivers do not pick and drop passengers at the designated stops," said Gurgaon police commissioner SS Deswal.

"We have also asked the roadways general manager to depute his representative to look into the matter," said Deswal.

In no mood to spare violators, he added that challans have been issued to several drivers and the drive will continue.

Sources said the traffic police are also planning to write to DTC and Rajasthan Roadways to keep a tab on errant drivers.
