Carlton Towers land owner, two others surrender

Three people, including owner of Carlton Towers land, Anurag Jain, against whom cases had been filed in connection with the recent fire that claimed nine lives, surrendered before police today.

Three people, including owner of Carlton Towers land, Anurag Jain, against whom cases had been filed in connection with the recent fire that claimed nine lives, surrendered before police today.

Jain, treasurer of the building association Mandanna and association joint secretary Sanjiv Madan who were granted anticipatory bail by an additional chief metropolitan magistrate court on March 8, surrendered, ACP (Ulsoor Division) G B Manjunath, heading the probe into the mishap, told PTI.

"They are in police custody for purpose of further investigation," he said.

Other six accused in the case including Rafiq-ur-Rehman, owner and secretary of the building association, are on conditional bail.

A major fire in the Carlton Towers Building complex housing many software firms and a restaurant claimed nine
lives and left over 50 injured on February 23.
