Cartoons, tales in textbooks

The new books released by NCERT have a unique combination of cartoons, pictures and folk tales.

The new textbooks for classes I, III, VI, IX and XI that promise to be interactive and help develop understanding among students, were released on Wednesday.

Based on National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2005, the books have a unique combination of cartoons, illustrations, pictures and folk tales for better understanding of the subjects.

Mrinal Miri, a member of the NCF, said that “instead of overburdening students with loads of information, importance has been given to understanding.” "The aim is to develop the imagination of students and help them reflect," said NCERT chief Krishna Kumar.
