The Central Bureau of Investigation gave a clean chit to BJP MLA Dhruv Narayan Singh in RTI activist Shehla Masood's murder case, but filed a chargesheet in court against interior designer Zahida Parvez, her confidante Saba Farooqui and three alleged contract killers on Friday.

The chargesheet, filed in the court of special CBI judge Shubra Singh by the agency's counsel, Hemant Shukla, said Singh had no role in Masood's murder.

"We have filed the chargesheet… against Zahida, Saba, Shaquib Ali, Ifran and Tabish — the latter three allegedly the contract killers — under sections 302 (murder), 120B (criminal conspiracy), 201 (causing disappearance of evidence) of the Indian Penal Code and sections 25, 27 of the Arms Act," said Shukla. Asked specifically if Singh, the MLA from Bhopal (central) constituency, was given a clean chit in the case, Shukla said, "That's what I am saying. He has no role in the murder of Shehla."

Shukla said Singh's name was mentioned in the chargesheet in connection with the motive for the murder because he allegedly had relationships with both Masood and Parvez.

"Since Zahida was jealous of Shehla because of her relationship with the MLA, she plotted her murder and that is the main motive for the crime," he added.
