A three-member CBI team on Friday began investigations into Wednesday's police firing at Nandigram that claimed at least 14 lives.

The team headed by a Joint Director (East) B B Mishra began its filed investigations from Khejuri, about 30 km from Chandipur, they said.

The team stayed at Haldia, about 70 km from Nandigram in East Midnapore district Thursday night.

Calcutta High Court on Thursday directed the CBI to immediately visit the troubled areas and collect all evidence of firing by the police.
